Lead By Example
How you can demonstrate this behaviour in practice:
Be self-aware
Self-awareness allows you to see yourself from the perspective of others. It enables you to recognise your strengths and weaknesses and how you react when under stress or pressure, so that you can better manage your emotions and behaviours. This will also help to ensure that you are consistent. One way to increase your self-awareness is by regularly seeking feedback from others.
Have humility
Humility is the attitude that you are not of greater importance or superior to others. It recognises that we are all different and no single individual is more important or has all the answers. Demonstrate humility by acknowledging your own and others’ strengths and limitations, asking for help and being open to guidance, taking accountability when things go wrong and recognising and celebrating others’ contributions.
Show openness
It is important to demonstrate openness to different experiences and perspectives, to foster a culture of openness around you. This requires curiosity and employing active listening skills. It is closely connected to humility; be open to change and welcome constructive feedback as an opportunity to improve and develop.
